How much does training cost?
There is no charge for the training sessions.
For First Response Courses – in the event of a no show without prior notice of cancellation, the relevant Division will be charged £5.00. Materials are also free except the First Response book which will cost £3.
Food Hygiene requires a £20 cheque to be sent to County Office, as soon as your booking has been submitted. Cheques should be made payable to “The Guide Association Leicestershire”. This is to cover the cost of exam papers and certificates and you will also need a current photo I.D. on the day – without this you will not be allowed to do the course.
What should I wear?
Uniform/Guide wear is worn at trainings.
What if I need to cancel my place?
There is often a waiting list so PLEASE tell us if for any reason, you have to cancel by contacting the office asap.
Do I need to do the Full First Response Training?
If a volunteer has never completed any first aid training, they will need to attend the Full 1st Response course or an external first aid training course. If you have an external certificate this still needs to be entered onto Go!
The 1st Response course is valid for 3 years from the date it is awarded. After this time period, 1st Response holders and those who have had external first aid training can attend a Girlguiding 1st Response Refresher course. This 2 hour course will update your training for a further 3 years. There is nothing stopping you going on another full course if you want to, as this may enable you to feel more confident.
Each unit should have at least one Leader with a valid 1st Response certificate or an equivalent first aid qualification. If your 1st Response has expired, you cannot be the named First Aider for the unit or activities in the interim period before you attend a Refresher course.
